The Strata Titles Amendment Bill 2018 was passed by the Upper House at the beginning of November.

Drafting of the regulations will commence shortly with the changes due to be implemented in the second half of 2019.

The Community Titles Bill is also being debated in the Upper House and is expected to pass between November and December. The reforms will resolve problems for people in strata by providing a modern, transparent and accountable legislative framework for creating and managing strata.

With the strata titles legislation, there are a number of key changes:

Strata managers will be regulated through a series of changes, which look to achieve and maintain improved performance and accountability.

Owners will be more empowered to improve common property, which is especially important for aging developments.
